Liberia Athletics: 5 Clubs Battle for 2022 Championship on Saturday

Over 50 Track & Field athletes, male and female, from five (5) clubs, will converge at the refurbished Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville on Saturday, September 24, 2022, for the National Athletics Club Championship.

 

Dubbed the 2022 Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) Club Championship, athletes from Fast Track, Liberty, Conqueror, Tiger of RAFIKI Village and Elite Athletics Stars Clubs are expected to face-off at the National Athletics Club Championship in a one-day battle.

 

The LAF National Athletics Championship is aimed to spot hidden talents among clubs to form part of the LAF’s local national teams to compete in international championships.

 

On Saturday, September 24, beginning at 9 AM, the athletes will participate in 11 events including 5,000m, 1,500m, 400m, 200m, 100m, long jump, high jump, shot put and relays (4x100m and 4x400m normal and mixed).

 

The winner of this year’s Championship will receive L$50,000 and a gigantic trophy.

 

Fast Track

 

Fast Track Athletics Club are the reigning Club Champions of the Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF).

 

Conquerors topped the last two editions of the LAF Club Championships before 2021.

 

Fast Track accumulated 62 points during last year’s club championships. Liberty Athletics Club emerged second, with 59 Points; Conquerors, third, with 40 Points.
